I Got 99 Problems….

I Got 99 Problems But My Wedding Ain’t One…

Beyonce

As I look at my wedding countdown there are 99 short days until my wedding. Yesterday marked 100 days until the Driskell/Jones wedding and tomorrow is Valentine’s Day so it seems apropos that today would mark my next blog post. I’ve really been thinking about what I should write about on this day and I’ve just decided to share my current thoughts.

Valentine’s Day
I have a love/hate relationship with this holiday. I read a post on Facebook this week that said “Everyday is a Valentine’s Day when you are in a real relationship.” I love the idea of celebrating your love and taking it up a notch on a special day, but I sometimes feel like people wait until this Valentine’s Day to really show their loved ones that they appreciate them rather than doing it throughout the year. I also wouldn’t exactly say everyday is Valentine’s Day. I think real love is more like Tamar Braxton’s “Love and War” or somewhere in between. Everyone loves the great moments, but it’s the tough, trying times in which love is truly evident. I just want to have the most authentic love I can.

How Men Plan Weddings
I am marrying someone who is NOT a planner, so he gives me an anxiety attack daily when I ask him about his to-do list. This has been a great exercise in balance because I freak out over the smallest hiccup and James is always cool as a cucumber. I’ve just been saying “woosah” often and knowing that everything is going to be amazing! I have come to the realization that things don’t have to be perfect so any issues we will deal with them as they come. In the meantime, I’m just giving James’ list a solid side eye and carrying on with my day πŸ™‚

Real Wedding Updates
I’m so anxious to get to my wedding day. As a person with a planning personality, I cannot wait to see everything come together. I love a good project,Β  but I need some instant gratification! Since I was determined to accomplish much of my wedding to-do list by the end of last year, I’ve hit a lull in planning. The next things coming up is my bridal shower and our engagement photos and I cannot wait! I’ve spent the last week selecting outfits, booking appointments and moderately working out in preparation. The fun is about to begin!

If you’re stuck on how to dress for engagement photos or general couples photos, I found these great tips on Pinterest from http://www.greenweddingshoes.com. The most important thing is that you feel comfortable and that whatever you wear really represents the two of you. In some of my future posts, I’ll get to show you all what we chose!
