About a month and a half into marriage and I figured I should catch you guys up on everything in our lives, especially our big day!
For the most part, things went off without a hitch, with the exception of rain literally everyday in the month of May. In my mind, I had a beautiful outdoor ceremony planned and I was further sold on that plan while walking down the long path to the gazebo at our rehearsal. Unfortunately, Mother Nature reared her ugly head with more pouring rain the day before the wedding. Weather – 31, Lauren – 0.
Following the rehearsal, we had the most amazing rehearsal dinner with our wedding attendants and our families at Pappadeux. It was great to get the people dearest to us together, hear marriage advice from the pros and eat some truly delicious food.
On Friday night, a few of my bridesmaids and I stayed in a hotel near the venue to be nearby for our marathon makeup session the day of the wedding. Rather than getting beauty rest, we spent most of the night chatting, singing and making music videos in true slumber party fashion. I also started to lay out the monogrammed bridesmaids gifts which included: a black satin robe, a tote bag and a hanger with their name on it. I also gave my maids of honor a special little detail for their dresses: a flower pin. Etsy was my best friend for the monogrammed items.

For the guys, we got them little drink bottles and sunglasses. Perfect guy gifts 🙂
I mentioned in a prior post that our cake vendor went out of business surprisingly about a month before the wedding, my next wedding challenge was getting into my beautiful wedding gown I ordered about a year before the wedding. Though I had several fittings and some alterations over the year, my dress was so TIGHT on the day of the wedding. I should go ahead and add here that about 2 months prior I found out we were expecting so that one-year-ago-physique was spreading at all sides. Needless to say, I was able to get into the dress, but sitting was out of the question. I also ordered my veil from Etsy for only $30 and it was beautiful!!!
I can say that our day of coordinators at the Tribute, Mike and Sandra, truly made the experience the most memorable of our lives. Our guests had a wonderful time, everything was beautiful and Mike and Sandra catered to anything and everything we needed throughout the day.

Our wedding cake, made by the so helpful staff at Meringue Bakery in Plano, featured alternating Grand Marnier and marble flavored layers with buttercream icing and decorated with gold detail to match our colors.
To incorporate our Great Gatsby theme, I used gold sequin table runners and table arrangements with feathers to give the venue that 20s feel.
We announced to our guests that we were expecting at the wedding reception! We also incorporated the pregnancy reveal into the wedding favors.
There were so many precious moments and so many great memories that I will remember for a lifetime. Such a magical time!
