“You are the closest I will ever come to magic.” ― Suzanne Finnamore, The Zygote Chronicles
In a prior posted, I talked about the anxiety that came with waiting for Baby Jones to finally start moving in my stomach so that I could feel her. At my last doctor’s appointment, the sonographer advised me that because of the location of the baby I probably wouldn’t feel her move for a few weeks to another month. I was grateful to hear this comforting explanation that everything would be fine and I didn’t need to stress.
The following week when sitting at work, I felt a little movement and I knew this was it! Though I don’t remember the actual day, I know that Baby Jones has been moving consistently and at about the same time each day. When I get to work she lets me know she’s up too and when I lay down to go to sleep she kicks me goodnight :). I try to get my husband to feel her kicking, but apparently her kicks feel much harder on the inside than they do on the outside of my stomach.
It’s so nice to be able to learn her pattern and feel that connection to her as she prepares to enter the world. Last week, she was active like a future soccer player and in contrast this weekend, she didn’t move much at all. I let her relax for most of Sunday, but as the day began to conclude I nudged her to get a little activity before we went to sleep. She gave me a few little taps and I was able to sleep peacefully. It’s such an amazing feeling.
