It’s my anniversary and I can truthfully say the last year has flown by. One year ago, the torrential rain ruined my plans for a beautiful outdoor wedding, but couldn’t detract from the beauty of the day itself. Ironically, today also started off with a downpour so if rain on your wedding day is good luck, rain on your first anniversary must be great luck!

A few things I love about my husband:

He’s the yin to my yang
As anxious, obsessive and dramatic as I am, I would have surely imploded long ago if it weren’t for him. I can remember so many times while having a mini-breakdown that he’s picked me up and truly encouraged me to push through. Having someone who can calm your spirit is priceless.

He can ALWAYS make me laugh
If I could give one piece of advice, it would be to marry someone just like this. I am stubborn as all get up and I hate to apologize because I’m obviously never wrong. Regardless of whatever mood I’m in — sad, mad or somewhere in between — he can always make me laugh. If he catches my gaze, he can break down every wall.

He loves every part of me
There’s a Beyonce song called “Flaws and All” that I shared to his Facebook page a while back because it’s so true of us. “I’m a host of imperfection and you see past all that…” He loves me with the purest, most caring love that I’ve ever known. He makes me a little less self-conscious with his gaze, his words and his touch.
