In less than a week, my precious little baby will turn 1! Like any Pinteresty mom, I’ve been patiently waiting to create an epic cake smash to commemorate the occasion. The outcome was a little less than epic, but the results were a truly adorable photo shoot.

I started the cake smash idea with the colors pink, gold and white in mind and used the gold table runners from my wedding (yes, I do plan to use them every single moment that I can!) as a base. My sister friend Chantary got Journey’s tutu and headband and longtime family friend Mrs Cynthia Allen created the delicious cake!

We stopped at my alma mater Southern Methodist University, which has been dubbed one of the most beautiful college campuses in the US, and I took full advantage of my tuition dollars by using it as the setting of our shoot.

Of course, my sister Shelby was the amazing photographer. It’s so much harder to snap a good picture with an active walking kid! Thank goodness she’s cute.

Currently, I’m planning her birthday celebration…. Here’s to one year with the wild one!
