Pink or Blue?

For the last few months, I’ve been uneasy about being pregnant… but probably not for the reasons you would expect. Thankfully, I have had an incredibly easy pregnancy. No morning sickness, no icky feelings, just really tired and really hungry initially. My mom had 6 kids and often reminded me that she was sick throughout all of her pregnancies and would often end up weighing less at the end of her pregnancy than her pre-pregnancy weight because she was so sick.

Being my first pregnancy, I really had no idea what to expect. I’ve read different articles and charts on Pinterest on the baby development week by week and what you should expect, but I sometimes found that information brought more anxiety and expectation than helpful information. Though I am so blessed to have not been sick, in a weird way throughout this time period I haven’t felt pregnant or really looked pregnant. I want to stress that I’m not ungrateful that I’m not sick, but there’s something about that connection to pregnancy that I feel like I’ve been lacking…. I know #firstworldproblems

To be honest, it’s nerve-wracking to wait each month for your doctor’s appointment to hear your baby’s heartbeat and know that everything is okay.  Thankfully, I have a great support system for when I have my crazy hormonal moments and a great husband to rub my back and wait on me even though I could definitely do it myself, but I’m just too lazy to.

So yesterday, we finally found out the gender of our baby!! I sent the pic below to a few friends (get it PINK or BLUE ;)) and did a social media poll earlier this week to see  people’s guesses. Based on the poll, the numbers were extremely close, but “girl” lead the poll by one vote.

For the first time ever, my OB’s waiting room was completely empty so my husband and I waited and soon my BFF Ashlee came to wait and hear the news. Within minutes, we were called back for the sonogram. Our sonographer was amazing and made cute comments throughout the whole process making me feel so much better. My lovebug Madelyn also showed up while we were with the doctor.

Super excited for y’all!! I know exactly what you mean about ‘feeling’ pregnant. I was the same way with my second pregnancy and it was very nerve racking to not ‘feel’ pregnant. Bring on the pink!
