When you find out you’re pregnant, you can pretty much run down the list of questions people pose:

• When are you due?
• What are you having?
• Have you guys picked out names yet?

So after our gender reveal last month, it’s time to answer the next question! It may or may not be surprising to people, but I’ve had a list of baby names compiled in a note on my phone for about 7 years. The list includes girl and boy names that I have come across over the years that I’ve continued to tailor to my liking as my taste (and the times) change.

My husband and I decided that we wanted our child’s name to start with a “J” so prior to knowing the gender, we played around with different J names for girls and boys. We were having the hardest time coming to agreement on J name for a boy, so thank goodness we are having a girl!

Naming a child is so hard! My parents named all 6 of us easy generic names and though I didn’t feel the need to follow suit, I did take into account their thought process as I considered what to name my child and of course, as with any decision, lots of people weigh in with their ideas. Ironically, my sister also suggested this name (which was on my list) which made me feel more secure with my choice.

Note to future parents: when naming your kids develop a thick skin because not everyone will love your child’s name as much as you do :).

Without further ado, around Thanksgiving we will welcome Journey Jones into our family!! I know my mom is somewhere rolling her eyes and waiting for the day when someone asks her granddaughter if they can take a journey, but we won’t mind her 😉
